Position Description
Performs Academic
Advising, educational, professional, or other advanced Academic Advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate.
Responsibilities may include assisting in the analysis of special and/or complex problems. May supervise Academic Advisors or other
employees. Performance is based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under standard
supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
The Senior Academic Advisor
scope includes providing academic advice for scheduling and planning schedules for undergraduate students. This will require some critical
thinking and communication skills. This is a position for the advising team specializing in organizing and coordinating with faculty
classes, and student’s academic career. Would be responsible for monitoring student’s success. Responsible for providing educational
guidance, assistance, and academic advising for students through goal setting, and writing degree plans that align with Degree Works. Answer
question sand concerns to ensure communications are kind, professional, responsive ,consistent, timely, and accurate. Serve as the first
point of contact for questions to the office in person and on the phone, assist in making appointments, and provide referrals as needed.
Participate in events, activities, and documentation in Raider Success Hub ,our online system designed to improve recruitment, retention,
and completion of students.

  • Participate in recruiting events and Red Raider Orientation.
  • Coordinate with TTU personnel to
    proactively seek solutions to student questions, concerns, participate in weekly staff meetings, and respond to email

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, plus one year relevant experience.


Two years related experience, especially prior experience in academic advising, university orientation, and/or student
success. Knowledge in TTU systems, biology background, familiarity with the College of Arts &Sciences degree programs and requirements, the
ability to solve complex problems, and a working knowledge of higher education.
