Position Summary:
The Recruiter and
HR Generalist performs a broad range of responsibilities that vary in complexity in support of services, programs, and functions for the
Office of Human Resources at Harvey Mudd College. The first priority of the role being to improve and maintain a results driven recruiting
program as the Recruiter on the HMC team. This candidate will be responsible for sourcing, pre-screening, interviewing and referring
qualified candidates to respective hiring departments. Targeting the best qualified candidates, this recruiter will develop strategies to
attract and retain staff as well as provide support to new hires. The ideal candidate will also be a key member on the HR team and have the
ability and interest in working on key HR projects and initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the HMC community.
The candidate
will report to the Senior Director of Human Resources and will play a critical role in nurturing trusting relationships with potential hires
while providing excellent candidate/onboarding experience. The position requires the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work in a
diverse and fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who has proven success in full cycle recruiting from job
description development to sourcing, interviewing and successfully onboarding. The ideal candidate will also have experience with employment
law and be familiar with other areas of human resources and is interested in continuing to develop and refine their HR generalist experience
and skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle recruiting process ensuring a smooth candidate
experience - Support employment through proactive recruitment initiatives, posting and advertising jobs, conducting interviews,
onboarding, and processing new hires within Workday. - Use traditional and non-traditional resources to identify and attract quality
candidates such as career fairs, on-line job fairs, community network events, and other event venues - Gather and analyze data with
useful HR metrics in relation to recruiting and helping the college to minimize the amount of time requisitions are open and in an effort to
ensure HMC targets, hires and continues to retain a diverse workforce - Generate pipeline of highly qualified and interested
candidates for multiple searches (both for active searches and for developing pipelines of candidates for future searches) - Maintain
knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment
law - Collaborate with Hiring Managers and HR team to keep them informed and engaged with the progression of your sourcing and
outreach campaigns - Coordinate, administer and support the HR recruiting and retention programs/initiatives, using continuous
improvement methodologies to monitor programs for efficiency/effectiveness - Create new job profiles in Workday
- Perform other
duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the Human Resources department
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required with courses in business administration, human resources, or
related field - 2+ years of experience as a Recruiter or Talent Specialist in a Recruiting capacity
- Familiarity with HR
databases, Candidate Relationship Management Systems (CRM), or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) - Experience utilizing the latest
sourcing tools and methods (Internet search, browser extensions, Social Media, LinkedIn etc.)
Required Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:
- Knowledge of laws and regulations which pertain to human resources; must be capable of interpreting
them - Ability to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas, and demonstrate maturity and composure in dealing with
difficult situations - Highly motivated with integrity, strong work ethic, excellent communication, and analytical
skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write legibly, spell accurately and proofread
documents - Use highly effective and sound judgment
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing
demands and is adaptable to frequent change, interruptions, delays, or unexpected events - Experience using Microsoft Office,
including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS
PowerPoint - Excellent organizational, negotiation, and problem solving skills
- Efficient multi-tasker who is detail
oriented - Ability to work collaboratively with managers, staff and students and other campus constituents
- Ability to function
in a team environment and to work independently - Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education or a non-profit organization
- Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is
desirable - Experience with Workday preferred
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this
job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; stand use hands and fingers and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to
reach with hands and arms. The individual must regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25

Classification:
This is an exempt, full-time, benefits-eligible
position.
Salary:
The anticipated starting salary is $74,000-78,0000/annual. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
Reporting:
This position reports to the Senior Director of
Human Resources.
