Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University’s Office of Human Resources is pleased to accept qualified
applications for the position of Human Resources Generalist.


This position is responsible
for assisting with records management administration, including oversight of active and inactive personnel files and records within the
specific area within the Office of Human Resources (OHR); This position reports to the Associate Director, Human Resources; Responds to
public records requests from the Division of Legal Affairs; Ensure request(s) are forwarded to the proper delegated authority and give
appropriate access to information, ensuring compliance; Review and determine the disclosure requirements and exemptions of records to
include appropriate redactions; Sets up and reviews document records systems to include ensuring compliance with the university retention
and disposal schedules; Advises on new record management policies, providing a framework in the management of records and use of the
employer’s records system; and manages the changeover from paper to electronic records management systems; Handles employee information with
strict confidentiality, recommends to supervisor improvement opportunities or changes to current processes to ensure efficiency, and
provides all paper and electronic records within the assigned area are maintained, managed, and stored correctly; Performs other duties and
responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor and ensures compliance with university regulations and policies, state and federal
policies and laws.


High school diploma or equivalency and four years of related experience; or bachelor’s
degree in appropriate area of specialization.


Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating
information, considering and respecting others input and personal values and ethics;
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in
Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior;
Knowledge of principles, practices, and
standards of human resources administration in assigned area;
Ability to function independently with minimal supervision;
Knowledge of
and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations;
Knowledge of Records
Management,both federal and state levels;
Ability and willingness to coach, support and develop others;
Ability to prioritize, plan,
and coordinate multiple work assignments;
Must be organized and detailed-oriented;
Must have a strong self-drive and ability to take
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and management; and
Ability to use
proficiently Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) including

Anticipated Salary Range

The hiring
salary is $42,000.00.

Pay Plan

This is an
USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Conditions of

Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of
