Job Description:

The Employment Specialist III
assists the HR Manager in strategic planning, evaluating current processes and practices, and conducts research on
policies/procedures/guidelines to streamline hiring processes, and develops and promotes the adoption of best practices. Liaise between the
departments and other core offices such as Finance & Accounting (F&A), Payroll Services, Student Affairs, Graduate School, etc. Directly
supervises the team’s student assistants and assists HR Manager with the daily operations of the Employment Operations & Records team.

  • Daily Operations: Under the direction of the HR Manager, the department supervisor serves as an advisor to the university on employment
    related processes and policies. Collaborates in the coordination, review, oversight, and evaluation in the day-to-day office operations in
    conjunction with the HR Manager, involving all employment-related transactions. Takes proactive steps to meet the needs of faculty and
    staff; monitors trends and works closely with manager to design, evaluate, and modify procedures to ensure compliance and service excellence
    to the university community. Assists in the drafting of guidelines for business processes for the Employment Operations team and the
    university.
  • Supervision: Responsible for the direct supervision of the department’s HR student assistants; establishes bi-weekly
    check-ins and guides their professional development. Provides oversight on the input, accuracy, compliance, and analysis of all
    employment-related transactions by performing quality control checks for the department. Coaches team members on areas of improvement;
    provides clear expectations and guidelines of job duties for our department’s service standards.
  • Employment-Related Transactions:
    Responsible for the completion of employment-related transactions through the electronic personnel action form (ePAF). Accounts for a
    percentage of the day-to-day workload and provides guidance to campus units on appropriate laws and University regulations and policies to
    ensure the timely approval of personnel actions.
  • Projects and Innovation: Assists HR Manager in strategic initiatives by serving as
    project lead that will improve employment-related processes for the university. Offer suggestions regarding improvement of HR processes,
    policies, procedures, and draft/implement changes. Develop and facilitate training programs for the Employment Operations team in
    collaboration with colleagues and supervisor.
  • System Management: Troubleshoots PeopleSoft system issues and works with external
    vendors when necessary.
  • Public Records Management: Assist HR Manager with the oversight of records request processes and
    facilitates requests by working with team members to fulfill the requests.
  • Course Instruction: Serves as an instructor for UFHR
    professional development training courses that are taught online; Pro3 series and HR Onboarding.

Expected Salary:

$55,000
– $58,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two
years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s
degree in human resources or related field.
