Job Summary/Basic Function

Under the direction of the Dean, the Center Director will work with the Jones College faculty and staff each semester to create a slate of workshops to be offered to companies across Middle Tennessee. These workshops will include face-to-face, online, and hybrid training modules. The workshops should cover contemporary skills and bodies of knowledge (i.e., artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, leadership, Six Sigma, ChatGPT, data analytics, workplace incivility) needed by employees across any industry sector. The job will include meeting with companies to determine the area’s training needs, evaluating training initiatives, organizing workshops for each semester, curating the marketing initiatives for the workshops, including the brochure, and choosing appropriate social media outlets. The Director will also interface with national trade organizations to establish approval for continuing education units (CEUs).

The Center Director will be charged with running an efficient and effective center with responsibilities that include monitoring a budget, allocating funds, recruiting/training staff, organizing building maintenance, and managing workshops, including room schedules. Three new initiatives are being considered for next year for which the Center Director will be responsible if launched: the Jones College Podcast, a Speaker Series, and an Executive Round Table.

Required Education

Minimum Master’s Degree

Required Related Experience

Three years experience in a related field. Project management experience preferred.

Desirable Related Experience

Preference will be given to prior training center or training program management experience. Event planning would be desirable. Social media and marketing skills would be beneficial.

Desirable License/Registration/Certification

Preference will be given to applicants with Dale Carnegie Training Certification or SHRM Certification.
