Department Assistant – VPMA
SALARY: $46,465.00 Annually

UNIT: AFSCME – Grade Level 7
DEPARTMENT: Visual, Performing, and Media Arts
REPORTS TO: Chairperson, Visual, Performing, and Media Arts
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizes and coordinates the administrative workflow.
- Responsible for coordinating complex departmental projects from inception through completion.
- Provides primary secretarial support to the department.
- Identifies problems and/or inconsistencies in the class scheduling systems and provides for their solution or correction.
- Responsible for Administrator’s files, calendar, and correspondence.
- Prepares complex technical and/or statistical reports for the purpose of course level and program level assessment, student surveys, and data collection.
- Arranges, participates in, and implements meetings and conferences as directed.
- Participates in the training and motivation of other support staff.
- Provides students, employee, or department members with information and directs them to the appropriate resources.
- Operates office equipment.
- Maintains accurate files and records via manual or computerized systems.
- Orders office supplies and instructional/administrative materials as needed.
- Sorts and distributes mail within the department.
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous work experience in an academic area/college/school setting
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Accuracy and close attention to detail
- Strong communication skills necessary in order to deal with a multi-faceted office environment, students and the general public
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree
- Working knowledge of Colleague system
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 35 hours per week
RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible
