Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,681 – $3,900 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,681 – $6,034 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position
  • Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State’s remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Department Chair, the incumbent provides the full range of complex administrative and clerical functions in support of the mission of the Department and the University. The incumbent works closely with the Department Chair, assuring that all administrative requirements are completed in a timely manner and faculty obtain classroom support for effective instruction, and that students are supported. The incumbent assists with financial, programmatic and administrative support for general office operations.

The incumbent plans and executes a variety of large scale, complex projects involving coordinating and providing clerical and administrative support functions, at times handling complex and confidential information. Projects involve a wide range of problems requiring use of reason and judgment, interpretation of policies, contact with individuals at all levels of the University and individuals on and off-campus with full accountability for workflow and completion of the work assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Perform standard business math, track and maintain financial records and budget balances o Provide lead work direction to support staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the university, including those at a higher level and those sensitive or confidential in nature, and serve as a liaison for the unit to other academic departments.
  • Address problems and develop practical, thorough, and sometimes creative solutions.
  • Work independently and use sound judgment and discretion in establishing effective business processes and meeting deadlines.
  • Independently organize and prioritize multiple work assignments and projects o Use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages.

Education and Experience

  • High school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical work.
  • Strong experience and proficiency in the use of office software packages including Microsoft Word and Excel

The Department of Criminology at Fresno State provides undergraduate and graduate education in Criminology and Forensic Behavioral Sciences for students planning professional careers in the criminal justice field.
