Job Summary

The Degree Programs Administrator, reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Services will manage and support a variety of academic and operational projects and initiatives to support the degree programs and student services unit.

The Degree Programs Administrator will work in close collaboration and partnership with all Degree Program team members and affiliated offices to ensure successful planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. This role will be responsible for:

Position Description

  • Maintaining Canvas pages and associated materials for EdM Faculty Advisors, in support of the student advising model
  • Supporting logistics associated with advising
  • The new student onboarding site including:
    • Designing Qualtrics surveys for faculty and staff in order to determine effectiveness and changes
    • Analyzing data provided by the IT team making recommendations on content, potential changes, sequencing, and the potential for improved coordination with other student services units at HGSE
    • Proposing and implementing improvements and additions to the modules
    • Leading the expansion of the onboarding system and opportunities to leverage the system in larger ways to support student success
    • Building Canvas modules to support onboarding of Ed.L.D. and PhD students, in collaboration with the Director of Doctoral Programs, who will primarily develop the content
    • Serving as a partner and project manager to faculty for additional module development
    • Evaluating the long-term viability of Canvas for onboarding and, should a change be determined, leading the shift to Salesforce and integration with other HGSE systems
    • Collaborating with the student services teams and degree programs teams to ensure content is current and complementary to each office’s materials and activities
  • Building a new admitted student landing page, that coordinates seamlessly with the onboarding site; maintaining and refining the Admitted Student Website on an annual basis
  • Focusing on intensive support for the EdM program, working in close collaboration with the Associate Director for Residential Master’s Education and the Assistant Directors of residential EdM programs
  • Supporting the S996, S997, and S998 fieldwork experience courses through the organization and leading of course previews; reviewing applications prior to approval by the faculty member; updating and maintaining the relevant websites, Canvas pages, and forms, in close collaboration with the degree programs teams and student services offices

This role will also contribute to student success initiatives by:

  • Identifying process improvement initiatives.
  • Partnering with the Senior Associate Dean and the Associate Director, along with other members of the Ed.M. team including affiliated faculty, to identify and implement a continuous assessment model for ensuring the Ed.M. attains and maximizes operational efficiency and satisfaction, helping to create the conditions where Ed.M. staff and faculty can thrive.
  • Identifying and making recommendations for streamlining operational aspects of the degree programs work.
  • Supporting the Associate Director with academic progress letters and related activities.
  • Managing Academic Award processes.
  • Coordinating and managing student conference funds.
  • Manage the Urban Scholars program.
  • Managing financial processes related to assigned duties.
  • Staffing Ed.M. steering committee, summarize and follow up on key items needing follow-up.
  • Providing event support for the Ed.M as needed.
  • Coordinating and supporting any survey development and analysis, as well as support a residential Ed.M. wide web presence as needed.
  • Supporting cross-departmental projects in the degree programs and student services unit
  • Attending and contributing to the degree programs and student services weekly staff meeting, quarterly gatherings, retreats, and other community building endeavors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a two year term position with possibility of renewal.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum 5 years related professional experience. Previous experience with Canvas or similar LMS systems required.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience supporting academic programs highly desired.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience with Canvas
  • Previous project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships to advance the work
  • Ability to analyze data and summarize key themes to inform decision making.
