Job Description Summary

Within the Conference and Event Services office, this position is responsible for the
overall sales and marketing of The University of Akron as a Conference and Event center.

Market and recruit conferences on a
local, regional, and national level; respond to RFP’s and develop a network of potential clients and colleagues in the conference
industry and community to enhance the presence The University of Akron as a conference location.

Maintain a close, positive
relationship with internal and external stakeholders such as Residence Life and Housing, Dining Services, Academic Deans, Athletics, Risk
Management, The Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau, and college and division event planners.

Engage in ongoing market
scanning/benchmarking activities and bring forward ideas to university leadership to ensure The University of Akron remains competitive in
the Conference and Events market.

Review and collaborate with University Communications on revisions to the Conference and Event
Services website.

Additional Position Information:

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in sales and/or marketing.


  • Three (3) years of experience working in sales and/or marketing.
  • Experience working in
    a college or university event center.

The salary range for this
position is between $50,000 – $60,000 commensurate with experience. The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and
qualifications. The University of Akron offers a competitive total compensation package comprised of a competitive salary and comprehensive
