The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has announced the result of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam 3 soon. Appeared students can check it on karresults.nic.in and kseab.karnataka.gov.in.

The Karnataka SSLC exam 3 was held from August 2 to 9, 2024.
The last result – Karnataka SSLC exam 2 result – was announced within 19 days. The SSLC exam 2, or Supplementary examination, was held from June 14 to 21, and the result was announced on July 10.
A total of 2,23,293 students appeared for the Karnataka SSLC exam 2, of whom 69,275 passed. The pass percentage was 31.02 per cent.
The result of the annual SSLC (exam 1) was declared on May 9. The pass percentage in that examination stood at 73.40 per cent.
As many as 8,59,967 students appeared for the test out of whom 6,31,204 candidates passed. The test started on March 25 and ended on April 6, 2024

SSC JHT, SHT Recruitment 2024: The application window will close on Sunday at ssc.gov.in. The direct link to apply is given below.
The Staff Selection Commission, SSC, will be closing the registration window for Junior Hindi Translator posts on Sunday, August 25. Candidates who are yet to submit their applications for the post can do so before the deadline on the official website at ssc.gov.in.
SSC JHT, SHT Recruitment 2024: Registration window for 312 translator posts will end on August 25. Candidates can apply via the direct link.
Once the registration window is closed, the SSC will close the window for making online fee payments on August 26 at 11 PM.
The application correction window will be available from September 4 to September 5, 2024. The Computer Based Examination (Paper-I): October-November, 2024
It may be mentioned here that candidates while applying for the post must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the commission.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has signed an MoU with the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM) under the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, for conducting a 2-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Certification Course.
CBSE, ISTM team up to launch 2-day ‘Training of Trainers’ certification course for teachers and heads.
The pilot programme of the curriculum was launched on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Academic Block of ISTM at Olof Marg in New Delhi by CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh.
The training course aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which mandates 50 hours of continuous professional development for all teachers/head teachers.
Notably, ISTM is known for its expertise in delivering core training skills which involves Direct Trainers Skills (DTS) and Design of Training (DoT).
The ToT has been designed by merging the core components of DTS and DoT and the Integrated Approaches to Child & Adolescent Development.
CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh emphasized the need to empower schools to transition towards new-age learning mechanisms that closely reflect the future of work. “Realizing this vision in a bid to make India a developed nation by 2047 as well as improve the quality of education, CBSE took up this initiative which would go a long way in achieving training standards,” he said.
CBSE is targeting to train nearly 15,000 Resource Persons (RPs) in several batches. Additionally, the board will be catering to the training needs of 13 lakh teachers in its affiliated schools through this trained pool of resource persons.
The training course will also help in progressing in accordance with the competency parameters (‘Skilled’, ‘Advanced’, and ‘Expert’) defined in the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST).
On successful completion of the course, the participants will be awarded a certificate jointly signed by CBSE and ISTM.
As per a press release, the training is free of cost. It is being organized in different cities to ensure access and participation at an all-India level.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by personalities which included Chhavi Bhardwaj, Joint Secretary (Training), Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.
The MoU was exchanged between CBSE Director (Training) Manoj Srivastava and ISTM Director Rajiv Manjhi.
Himanshu Gupta, Secretary at CBSE, highlighted the importance of continuous professional development as mentioned in the National Education Policy 2020 and called upon all to take advantage of this trainers’ certification course.
The CBSE has sought the active participation of heads and teachers at all affiliated schools.
The crazy thing is that there’s a fascinating story buried in here: a tiny community of nerdy guys in Wisconsin and Minnesota spent the late 1960s and early 1970s creating a wholly new type of game that allowed geeks and freaks to inhabit the world of The Lord of the Rings. How the rules evolved, how the game caught on at MIT or in L.A., and how the creators dealt with their success—these are all big questions with intriguing implications. Unfortunately, while all of this is touched upon in multiple places (sometimes in suffocating detail), I came away without much perspective or feel for the story.
And that’s where things get instructive. Peterson is clearly a thoughtful guy who poured enormous passion into this volume. And he seems to be a capable writer—he’s been a finalist for science fiction’s esteemed Hugo Award. Yet, he’s produced a volume that was a wooden read, tough to follow, and didn’t really convey the heart of the enterprise. Keep in mind that this isn’t a book about negotiating the Louisiana Purchase, European social mores in the 1600s, or the history of sub-Saharan agriculture. It’s a book about Dungeons & Dragons!
I’m disinclined to blame Peterson for all this. Maybe I’m being too easy on the guy, but a few minutes spent browsing his author’s page or video clips makes clear he cares about this stuff and can be interesting. Rather, I’m inclined to lay the blame on the customs and expectations of academic narrative. After all, this is a book that opens with a note from the series editors, a couple of university professors. They explain, “In a line, the aim of the series is to help actualize critical historical study of games” and “exhibit acute attention to historiography and historical methodologies.” They say they’re seeking “a mix of qualities partially described by terms such as diversity, inclusiveness, and irony” (italics in the original) because this can “connect game studies to scholarship in a wide array of fields.”
In the editors’ opening note, I could find nary a word about accessibility, motivation, scope, coherence, or humanity. And, while I’m no expert, it seems to me that those are the qualities that make history relevant and relatable. In fact, I find it bizarre that the academy has come to favor historians who view themselves as stewards of self-regarding minutiae while farming accessible, inspiring, and instructive history out to the Walter Isaacsons and Christopher Nolans of the world. That seems oddly out of kilter. It also helps explain, I suspect, why history has migrated from a central place to a peripheral one in the academy.
Layoffs are coming to the University of California, Santa Cruz as the institution tries to get a handle on its budget, Chancellor Cynthia Larive said in a message to campus Aug. 20.
The public university’s fiscal 2024 year, which ended June 30, showed it had a whopping $107 million deficit in its core funds, which include state appropriations, tuition and fees. “This gap is concerning because it is both significant and higher than our initial Budget Office projection,” the chancellor said.
Campus leaders are moving ahead with plans to reduce spending by $17 million for the fiscal 2025 year, which will require cutting back staff levels,Larive said. She noted that most reductions would be from eliminating unfilled rolls, but cuts would include some layoffs as well.

UC Santa Cruz officials expect to end the fiscal 2025 year with a structural deficit of $126 million.Its core funds deficit is projected at $111 million —and that’s after figuring in $17 million in cuts the campus is implementing now.
“For all our success, we also have challenges we must confront,” Larive said.
The chancellor also signaled that more action is coming during the fiscal 2025 year and beyond, including an extension of the university’s hiring slowdown. Additionally, “there may be a limited number of additional layoffs,” Larive added.
She added some hiring could be “necessary in selected areas” to support key operations or to help UC Santa Cruz bring in new revenue.
On a webpage devoted to the issue, the university attributed its deficits to factors including rising salaries and other costs — among them insurance and utilities — as well as falling enrollment. The university specifically noted that enrollment of higher-tuition paying groups, namely out-of-state and international students, fell during the pandemic years and may not recover in the near future.
Fall enrollment dropped 1.8% to 19,478 students in the year between 2021 and 2022, according to federal data.
Causes aside, UC Santa Cruz’s deficits are weighing on its broader financial health. Larive said that fiscal 2024’s deficits were covered by one-time campus reserves.
“Those funds are diminishing due to accumulated deficits, which is why we need to take immediate steps to address our core-budget shortfall,” she said.
The university said it will have officials put more “more scrutiny on core funds discretionary spending, such as hiring, contracting, travel, etc.” Committees led by university executives are also looking at further spending reductions and new revenue opportunities, the university said.
Despite the deficits and cuts, Larive sprinkled positive notes throughout her message to campus.
“I remain confident that we will be able to address these challenges while pursuing advancements for the campus longer term,” she said.
